Can I take the exhaust prechamber off my 1978 Honda motorcycle?

Can I take the exhaust prechamber off my 1978 Honda motorcycle? – I have a 1978 Honda cb400TII Hawk II and it has this prechamber on it but they don’t make the stock exhaust for the bike anymore. Is this prechamber a necessity? I have seen a 2 into 1 exhaust system for this bike which would require the removal of this chamber, but I am unsure if removing it will mess up back pressure for the bike.

You dont need it, it is more for sound than anything.

You may have to make some slight adjustments to the carburetor settings but probably not on a bike that old.

N0 you don’t need it but you’ll have to increase the size of your main jet a little to compensate for the lower back pressure.

it depends on the system that goes on the bike… but the easy answer is NO you dont need it..

once you have the new system on just run the bike for 15 mins at a reasonable speed..

kill the motor ( kill switch).. roll to a stop.. pull the plugs out & check them..

black/ sooty.. to rich
tan/brown.. just right
white/ cracked… to lean.

you could fit a two systems of any 4 stroke 250cc single. one each side.. should be perfect..
