what is a safe top speed for a motorcycle trike? husband is building one in garage. Thanks to internet (sigh) he thinks he can gear it to as fast as 150mph or better (with NOS & a boost bottle) Naturally, this make me, his wife a bit nervous. At what speed do things really become dangerous?

I’d say 150mph isperfectly achievable. depends on his engineering skills & the stability of the trike. Trouble is at 150mph it’ll be uncomfortable with the wind blast unless he’s lying prone behind a screen. There’s plenty of trikes that do that speed but kinda pointless unless you own a private track. better to gear for acceleration, wheelies on a trike is fun!!

If he is building his first trike i recommend he do a internet search on the vigilante ..It is a highly engineered trike and is totally stable at any speed .. I helped a friend build a trike out of a 800 intruder once and that thing was scary .. totally unstable and wouldn’t go around a corner but this guy wouldn’t listen to anybody or do any research he just hung a upside down ford rear end under it and i welded up the suspension for him as he laid it out .. if all trikes are like that one there wouldn’t be any trikes out there
