Go with a 600, try a cbr or gsxr so the parts are always available.
500 may be a bit too boring and a me being a big guy too the 600 give you enough leg room so ur back doesn’t kill after 20 minutes of riding

500 for sure. to the dude who’s talking about the gixxer or cbr, bad idea for a beginner. take a look at the ninja 500r, not zx6r.

If you’ve never ridden a street bike then how do you know a 250 is too small?

You also have to define what you mean by “street bike”. Cruisers, sportbikes and dual-purpose bikes are all street-legal, so they are all “street bikes”.

Whatever you do, don’t listen to the people telling you to get a 600cc sportie. 120 hp is way too much for a beginner. No dirtbike even comes close to that sort of power.

A 900cc Kawasaki Vulcan only has about 50 hp. That’s about the most horsepower a newbie street rider should be dealing with, imo.

I would at least try the 250R, otherwise go for the 500R. Definitely do not go beyond 600cc for a beginner bike, no matter what size and weight you are.
