Why does this motorcycle insurance quote from progressive sound too good to be true?
I’m 17 a year old male; my 12 month progressive quote came up as $ 161 for motorcycle insurance. Why is it so inexpensive when everyone around me says it’s going to be expensive!!! Did I just type something in wrong or what?
I don’t know if this helps, but I live in a rural town in Oregon(population: about 3000) and have had my drivers license for one year and four months. I’m taking the motorcycle safety course at the end of August, and the bike I entered into progressive is a 1984 VF500F Honda Interceptor.
I hope it’s only $ 161/yr because that’s a fraction of what I pay for car insurance!!!! XD
Under collision and comprehensive it says ‘$ 1000 deductible(agreed value)” and I said the agreed value was $ 2000

It may be correct. The rate for cars is determined by your driving experience (number of years driving and number of accidents and/or tickets), by the cost to repair your vehicle, the amount of damage it does to other vehicles it hits, and the amount of medical expenses incurred by the passengers. Motorcycles don’t have much to them so compared to cars are cheaper to repair (although usually they are totaled). They cause very little damage to other vehicles, and since injury to passengers can be great, they don’t usually carry medical payments coverage so it is not a factor in the premium.
Another major factor in price is coverages. You didn’t say what you chose for coverages so if you got a quote for the lowest limits of liability and no comprehensive or collision, I would not be surprised if your quote was correct.
Better than trying to figure out if you input the correct for an internet quote is talking to a live agent – then you can be sure the quote is correct.

It depends upon area definitely like you have told population is about 3000 only… insurance gets lowered automatically when you live in a safer area and area that is less prone to accidents…..!!

It is possible that it’s correct, however, there is also a chance that, that’s per month.Reread the quote or call progressive back and make sure before agreeing to the policy. You said the agreed value was $ 2000 and that also affects the cost of insurance so it may be true. If it is $ 161.00/Yr you struck it rich, but it sounds more like it should be $ 161.00 Monthly. Good Luck.
Hope this helps!!!! :^)
